Everything about this movie is somewhat strange. First of all, I’m a netflix subscriber. I did not even order this movie. It came by mistake. I knew nothing about it, but I recognized the name Steven Soderbergh so I figured I’d give it a try. It also said on the DVD cover that he made this movie with no-named actors.
I watched the movie and it was just okay. They are no only no-named actors, these people aren’t even real actors. So I wasn’t sure what to make of it while I was watching. However, it didn’t bore me. It’s like watching and arty, independant film. So be prepared for that. You get to know three people who live in a small town in America. Non-glamorous people just living their every day lives. I think none of them are happy.
By the end of the movie, I thought it was just okay. Kind of because I didn’t get the whole, non-actor thing, but it added some realness and grittiness to the movie. Then I watched the extra features on the DVD. It ends up that these are real people that live in that town. They all have similar lives to these characters and it is just a dream of their to act. I get the impression that there was no real script. That the people were given situations and they made up their own dialoge. And many things about the characters in the film are from the actors real lives.
So, based on this, I think this movie is really unique and I think it is worth watching for people who enjoy movies.
