i'm old fashioned

unless my friend calls me to babysit, which i told her i'd do, i'm going to have a good old-fashioned evening. since it's 6:30 I'm assuming she isn't going to call.

i just took a really long bubble bath and read two magazines while i was in there. i have had the "singers and standards" digital music channel blasting for a few hours and lots of ella firtzgerald, shirley horn, and nat king cole has me in the most relaxed mood. i'm making stuffed peppers for dinner and they are cooking up right now. i LOVE the way it makes my house smell. it's very comforting. i smell good too though cuz i used the amaretto scented lotion that my sister got me last year for christmas. it's really strong so i smell like a yummy cookie!

turner classic movies has a night filled with old detective movies. Murder, My Sweet, a Philip Marlowe movie i havent seen yet, starts at 8pm. For those who aren't into old detective stories, Philip Marlowe is one of the most classic film noir detectives. He became very popular in novels in the 30s and 40s and then they started making movies and radio shows with his character as well. Humphry Bogart played him in The Big Sleep (on of my favs). Dick Powell plays Marlowe in this one.

but before i settle down for a night of film noir, i'm going to catch up on the top chef episode i missed this week! i think two people get kicked off this week because they didn't have anyone "pack their knives" last week.
