Last night my mom, Glendy and I all went to dinner at Brasserie Ruhlmann. I had wanted to go there since it opened last year. Glendy and I both had the "Cowboy Steak" which was a rib eye and my mom ordered the veal chops. All were very good. It costs the same as other steakhouses but the atmosphere reminds me of a restaurant in during the Gilded Age in New York. Or maybe something out of the 40s. It is a huge room with a detailed mosaic floor and deep red walls. My mom did point out that the bathroom location was a problem. You had to go up a flight of stairs and that would be impossible for old people! Also the locks on the bathroom doors are way goofy and people can get easily locked in. But this is swanky restaurant and would be a good place to go for a proposal, anniversary or even Valentine's Day.

Tonight Glendy and I went to dinner at Otom. I was surprisingly disappointed! We ordered the 3-course tasting menu with wine pairings. We also ordered an extra Salmon Cervice appetizer and some champagne in the beginning. The chapmagne was good and the salmon cervice was okay. The pairings for the first course did not go at all! It was a sweet wine and the food came with grapefruits and I couldn't get over over the bitterness of the grapefruit. It didn't even taste sweet until almost the end. Then they messed up the main course. They only had enough for one. It was squab (which I guess is like a pigeon). So I got the squab and Glendy asked for the quail off the menu. They screwed up and prepared the quail the same way as the squab and it didn't go at all. The dessert was the biggest portion and too large for us to eat. So I'm not sure if we'll be going back there or not. We might give it another chance because it has received good reviews. Maybe we were just there on an off night.

I can't help it . . . I LOVE watching Gossip Girl. Thank God it's not a reality show. It's a delicious teenage soap opera-type show and I'm addicted. I haven't had time lately to watch that much tv so today I got to catch up on about 5 episodes. I was in HEAVEN. The only sad thing is that now I have seen all 13 shows and I am not sure there are any more new ones until after this whole writer's strike is over. Next week they are starting the series over from the pilot and I might watch it all over again.

I took a little vacation this week. My sister now lives in Dyer, Indiana and I went out there to spend a few days with her. I brought one of my dogs and my birdie. Charlie Bird is sick and I have to give him medicine twice a day so I had to bring him. The picture above is me lounging on Margie's chaise lounge with Charlie Bird, Logan and Tristen. It was nice and relaxing!

I bought a pedometer a few weeks ago. I think we all know we are supposed to walk 10,000 steps per day to be healthy. I know that I walk way less than that but I didn't know how much less. When I put the pedometer on in the morning I thought I walked around 2,000 steps. I don't really do anything during the day. Just shuffle from the computer to the couch to the bed. I go up and down stairs a few times. So I thought my number would be really low. I was pleased at the end of the day to see that I had walked 5465 steps! So I just need to DOUBLE my activity to be at a healthy level. There's hope for me yet!

I am pleasantly surprised with Lifetime's new Friday night lineup. I tuned in for Carson Kressley's How to Look Good Naked which was highlighted on this morning's Good Morning America. Not that I was dying to see it, but nothing much else is on. It was only a half an hour so I didn't bother to change the channel. A new "matchmaker" show is on afterwards: Matched in Manhattan. I like Confessions of a Matchmaker better because I really like Patty and it's filmed in Buffalo, not hoity-toity Manhattan.
