Hey there! Thanks for visiting "Rachel's Odyssey". I started this blog many years ago after I got a divorce as an outlet for expressing my thoughts. I was living in a different state than most of my friends and family at the time so it was a way for them to keep in touch with me about the little things. Most of the content you will find here is about my opinions on any given topic like what I'm watching on TV (loved Oprah's Lifeclass) or a book I'm reading. I also write about some of the fun stuff I do like going to concerts (like when I saw The Killers in 2009) or other events.
I'm a born and bred Chicagoan, a natural redhead, and a believer that social media increases social good and benefits the world. I am fascinated with all things related to the internet, including (of course) social media and blogging. I have been lucky enough to work in eCommerce since 1998 as part of several amazing initiatives with some great people.
I currently maintain a position as an eCommerce Business Analyst at Sears Holdings. In addition, I am the Founder of Playing Internet™, a Chicago-based online training web site focused on social media coaching for heart-centered businesses such as conscious entrepreneurs, authors, and coaches.
I started Rachel's Bite in 2006 to share recipes with friends and learn about blogging. Since then, it has grown into a respected source of recipe reviews and original content including various food and nutrition articles.
Not enough? I also like to take pictures, explore new places, make websites/blogs, doodle, and try out new recipes (right now I'm into vegan). I have an active mind and like to stay busy. I love to go hiking and to be with nature. I laugh at myself every day because i am a dork and get myself into amusing situations. When in doubt, I meditate and then make a new playlist on my iPod to reflect my current mood.
I'm also a happy mama of a corgi named Tristen and a blue crown conure named Charlie.
